Labels beside the visible tip name outward signs such as expressions, behaviour and body language. Those beside the much larger part below the waterline name what stays hidden, including pain, loss, fear, trauma and regrets.

Have you ever wondered what’s going on in the minds of your colleagues?

We usually know about the people we interact with daily. We can see their smiles and interactions, but do we know what is happening with their inner lives:

  • their past,
  • feelings,
  • struggles,
  • fears.

We think of empathy as a soft skill, but it’s the core of emotional intelligence. It’s crucial for building positive relationships.

Empathy helps us recognize the humanity of those around us. We can create meaningful bonds that can transform teams and organizations, leading to positive outcomes.

Empathy matters because it:

  • Builds Stronger Teams: Understanding each other’s struggles and strengths fosters teamwork.
  • Enhances Communication: Empathy leads to more open and honest conversations.
  • Improves Morale: Feeling understood boosts morale and job satisfaction.
  • Drives Innovation: Diverse perspectives lead to creative solutions.

Do you practice empathy in your workplace? What steps can you take to improve it? …
