The Qur’an itself makes this deep understanding a communal necessity:
فَلَوْلَا نَفَرَ مِن كُلِّ فِرْقَةٍ مِّنْهُمْ طَائِفَةٌ لِّيَتَفَقَّهُوا فِي الدِّينِ
“Why should not a party from every section of them go forth, so that they may gain deep understanding of the religion…”
Surah at-Tawbah 9:122.
And the anchor hadith of our theme is so famous that its familiarity hides its precision.
مَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ
“Whoever Allah intends good for, He grants him deep understanding of the deen.”
